CLE Marathon Weekend!

Wow! What a jam packed Cleveland filled weekend we had. It was just what we needed, especially me. As most of you know if the Cleveland Marathon weekend here and it consumed much of my waking and sleeping hours!

I’m proud to say I finished the 5k on Saturday and my amazing cousin, her boyfriend, and my bestie (on a sprained ankle from a golf cart accident the week of) all finished the 1/2 marathon within minutes of each other!

Friday was the expo and I ran into #thelogo while there.

Fancy meeting you here!

Kristina and I picked up some new running headbands while there to sport during our races. I personally think the goodie bag rocked, mainly for the rice krispie treats and tampons. I wasn’t a huge fan of the 5k shirt this year. Liked the design but hated the blueish grey color. Oh well, I guess that means I need to get better at running so I can get the kick ass tech shirts!

Saturday was the 5k. And it was toasty by the time I finished. A little taste of what Sunday would be like for all the runners. I beat my time last year by 3 minutes! Go me! It felt great to get out there and run. I really pushed myself. I was very lax in training and as some of you may know I was suppose to run the 10k. I decided to drop down because I wasn’t comfortable where I was in my mileage.

Photo finish!

Keith and I decide to go down to the big race on Sunday to cheer everyone on. We made signs for those we knew running:

Ain’t that the truth!

I think the only person who got to see these was Ryan! Baller marathoner. Word.

And one for everyone else a sign that read – Hope you used Bodyglide. I saw a lot of nipples from the runners showing me that they properly body glided and no blood was shed. Thank you for keeping me in the loop gentlemen. Note to self – after all the walking we did in the heat on Sunday we should have body glided as well.

A super shout out to my girl, Kristina. She was on vacay the week leading up to the race and she was involved in a slight golf cart accident where she was ejected during a donut attempt and catapulted to the ground (I made that sound worse than it probably was). She sprained her ankle in the process and was unsure she would be able to run, but she pushed through and made it across the finish line in 2 hrs and 10 minutes! Awesome job! Sorry I missed you passing, it seemed like every girl had your tank top on, and how 3 of us managed to miss you run by is still a mystery to me!

With all the running excitement this weekend Keith and I put together our race schedule for the rest of the season. A plan of attack to get my ass in gear and start working toward those bucket list goals that I pushed aside. We are still looking for a June and September race, but those months are booking fast for us.

July
7th – Run for Piergoies in Parma, 5k
15 – Johnny Cake Jog, 5 miler
August
26 – Warrior Dash
October
7th – Towpath 10k

*Did you participate this weekend in a race? What are you plans for the season?*

So happy we could get a picture together at the expo :) Love all the signs you made and glad you came out to cheer. It was a hot one! Also, I think the johnnycake race is hilly or has a big hill, just to warm you. It’s a big race though so still a lot of fun.
